Although Hopsin only released two singles from the entire album, the album was a big hit with his fans. Just a month later February , Hopsin had been reserved a spot in the top 10 Freshman List provided by the prestigious hip-hop magazine, XXL — again, emphasising his success in the music industry. The controversy is back, with name dropping and insults to his fellow hip-hop artists within the record.

The entire album is produced and written by Hopsin himself as well as being released through his own record label. Knock Madness is a solid project, and even better when considered how individual the album is. A touching record. For me, and his fans, Hopsin is a very consistent artist, even during his initial struggle.

His musical talent has always been evident and with his success, I can see much more to come from him in the future. With his stage name Hopsin being more recognisable in the present day, it would not surprise me if he did more collaborations and features on mainstream songs with other successful artists.

However his debut album, Gazing at the Moonlight was not released until October 27, , with little to no promotion. Shortly after launching Funk Volume, both Hopsin and SwizZz released a collaborative mixtape titled Haywire in June to promote the label.

Funk Volume originally wanted to sell it for retail sale, but were unable to due to Hopsin still being contracted by Ruthless Records at the time.

On mixtape website DatPiff, it has been certified Gold for being downloaded over , times and it later made available for purchase for digital download via iTunes and Amazon.
