Comment Post Cancel. Both of those from Amazon will work for removing the window cranks and door handles. I've had one like them for decades and have used it hundreds of times. The blue plastic pry bars from ebay work for prying up trim and door panels with snap in clips. They have their uses but I don't use them super often. Use a rag. Just be careful where the clip lands. The correct tool the one Rich showed is designed to release the handle from the clip, while keeping the clip attached to the handle.

If correctly used, the clip stays right there on the handle. I have removed many clips and have the same tool and similar tools for the same purpose. Sometimes it takes seconds, sometimes it takes me a few minutes. However, I cannot seem to fit the tool between the panel on my Golden Hawk. There seems to be a lot less room between the handle and the door mylar, and I am worried about messing up the door panel which is in very nice condition.

What is the trick to using it? If you choose not to purchase a window crank remover tool, you can remove the window crank retainer clip using two flat head screwdrivers. Apply an even amount of force using both flat head screwdrivers toward the "closed" end of the pin, until it "snaps" out of the window crank handle. Use caution when removing these pins, as they will fly to the moon if you are not careful. You should "cup" your hands over the direction that the pin will travel towards, allowing you to catch it as it starts its mile an hour trip!

These pins are small and easy to lose! Spare clips can be purchased at your local auto parts store. Almost sounds like we know about this from experience! Door panel remover. The door panel removal tool is used for "prying" off door panel retainer clips from the vehicles door panel.
